A 38-year-old man was charged Wednesday with capital murder in the stabbing death of a clerk at a South Los Angeles doughnut shop.
Travell Mossett is scheduled to be arraigned in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom tomorrow on a murder charge stemming from the Jan. 13 killing of 29-year-old Andy Ung.
The murder count includes the special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a robbery, along with an allegation that Mossett used an edged weapon.
Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty against Mossett.
Mossett allegedly jumped over a counter and took money from the cash register after placing an order at the shop, which sold fried chicken as well as doughnuts.
Mossett fatally stabbed Ung in a parking lot after he gave chase, prosecutors allege.
Candles and flowers were placed outside the business after Ung’s killing, and dozens of people took part last month in a march through South Los Angeles in his memory.
