A woman was seriously injured in a crash between a big rig and a car on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision took place about 1:20 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway, just north of Lake Hughes Road, CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said.

One woman was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital in serious condition, the CHP said.

The crash shut down three freeway lanes. However, one was reopened and only the Number 3 and 4 lanes remain closed.

The truck also spilled bout 40 gallons of diesel fuel in the crash, Villalobos said. A Caltrans crew was called to the scene and was cleaning up the fuel spill, he said.

A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 1:45 a.m. There’s no word yet regarding how long the lanes would remain closed.
