Two men have been arrested in a series of mailbox thefts in Long Beach, police said Tuesday.

Detectives have been investigating at least 13 circumstances in which the suspects have used a USPS key to access and steal items from mailboxes, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

James McMillan, 26, of Cypress, was arrested on March 18 by the Los Angeles Police Department and transferred to Long Beach, where he was booked on suspicion of burglary and was being held in lieu of $100,000, authorities said. Detectives believe McMillian is responsible for at least three of the burglaries.

Leonardo Zamora, 37, of Downey, was located by LBPD detectives Wednesday at Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue. He was booked on suspicion of an outstanding burglary arrest warrant and was being held in lieu of $150,000. Detectives believe Zamora is responsible for all the burglaries.

“This case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. Detectives will also coordinate with the United States Postal Service on possible federal charges,” the LBPD said in a statement.

The alleged burglaries took place at the following locations:

— The 100 block of The Promenade North on Aug. 21, 2023;

— The 100 block of The Promenade North and the 400 block of Seaside Way on Sept. 2, 2023;

— The 200 block of East Broadway on Sept. 28, 2023;

— The 200 block of West Broadway on Oct. 10, 2023;

— The 200 block of Long Beach Boulevard on Oct. 14, 2023;

— The 200 block of West Broadway on Oct. 19, 2023;

— The 200 block of West Broadway on Oct. 24, 2023;

— The 100 block of The Promenade North on Oct. 29, 2023;

— The 400 block of East Ocean Boulevard on Nov. 6, 2023;

— The 100 block of the Promenade North on Dec. 5, 2023;

— The 300 block of East Fourth Street on Dec. 9, 2023; and

— The 1000 block of East Ocean Boulevard on March 9.
