Authorities Thursday identified a 28-year-old woman who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision Wednesday at a Palm Springs intersection.

She was identified as Alexa Labrecque of Desert Hot Springs, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers responded shortly after noon Wednesday to a report of a three-car collision at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and 20th Avenue, according to the Palm Springs Police Department. Labrecque was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Three other people who were in the vehicle with her were then taken to a hospital with significant injuries, police said.

“Initial findings indicate one vehicle, traveling southbound on Indian Canyon Drive at a high rate of speed, collided with two other vehicles, as they slowed at the intersection,” police wrote in a statement. “The driver of that vehicle also sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment.”

Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision was asked to contact the department’s Traffic Division at 760-323-8125.
