A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car Saturday in South El Monte.
The crash occurred at about 7:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Chico and Garvey avenues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The person, who was not immediately identified, was in a crosswalk when hit by a light-colored sedan that fled the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
