Firefighters Saturday knocked down an auto fire that spread into a one-story commercial building in the Central-Alameda community of Los Angeles, authorities said.
The approximately 82 firefighters dispatched at 5:37 a.m. to 2122 S. Long Beach Ave. had the blaze out within 87 minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
“The commercial building had a roof collapse and made access to fire in certain areas of the building difficult,” said Jaime Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “An exposure next to the fire building had smoke exposure, but no fire.
“Arson will continue with the investigation and fire companies and heavy equipment will continue overhaul operations,” Stewart said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
