Firefighters Saturday knocked down an auto fire that extended into a metal-clad commercial building in downtown Los Angeles and where a man inside the vehicle was transported to a hospital for burn injuries.
Firefighters dispatched at 6:34 a.m. to 1010 S. Hooper Ave. had the fire out within 30 minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
A 21-year-old man inside the involved automobile was transported to a hospital for minor burns to one hand and a foot, fire officials said. He was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived.
Units remained on scene for about four hours to confirm the fire was out, LAFD officials said.
The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and Department of Water and Power were called to the scene to determine the extent to which the structure was compromised, fire officials said. Arson investigators were also called to the scene due to the civilian injury and that the fire started in an automobile.
