Multiple vehicles caught fire Friday in the garage under an apartment building in the Sawtelle area of Los Angeles, but firefighters prevented flames from spreading to units.
The fire was reported at 3:02 a.m. at 1516 S. Sawtelle Blvd., near Ohio Avenue, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
“Forty-two firefighters extinguished the multiple auto fires in 30 minutes with no reported injuries,” Stewart said. “There is residual smoke on the second floor (residential) but no fire extension beyond the parking garage.”
