Nobody is yet disputing Jimmy Kimmel’s contention on the Emmy Awards show that his mother made 7,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (with personal notes).

But the numbers are daunting — even for a homemaker like Joan Iacono, who gave birth to Jimmy in November 1967.
If it took 30 seconds to make a single PB&J, 7,000 sandwiches would take 58.3 hours. If Mom had a 10-minute break every hour, the time extends to about 68 hours.
And if she wrote even 500 notes to the Hollywood stars and movie makers — at 1 minute per note — that adds another 8 hours.
And who opened and stuffed the sandwiches and notes into 7,000 brown paper bags? (That could add 700 minutes, or nearly 12 hours.)
And where would 7,000 sandwiches be stored? And for how long? Too many snacks. So little time.
In any case, cooking sites joined celebrity pages in celebrating the Kimmel Mom Moment on Sunday night’s Emmys.

Not only did @jimmykimmel‘s mom make about 7000 sandwiches but she included sweet notes for everyone (like moms do)! https://t.co/yQrhHbnJcu

Sorry Jimmy Kimmel, put Ellen’s pizza on the Oscars worked better than the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. #emmys

Is it sadder to imply that #Kimmel‘s mother made 7000 pb&j sandwiches or to realize that some unpaid interns actually did? #Emmys
