After his 2000 loss to George W. Bush, Al Gore grew a beard and became a leading climate change decrier. Now David Letterman has gone bushy and become a renewable energy disciple.

The late-night comic is making his first TV show appearance since leaving CBS in May 2015, contributing to the “Years of Living Dangerously” series on the National Geographic Channel.
“David Letterman is charged up about solar energy in a new promotional video for the second season,” noted wthr.com.
“For Letterman’s episode … he travels to India to explore how one of the world’s most populous countries intends to provide power to all its people. The video features Letterman rhapsodizing about the virtues of clean energy while caressing an array of solar panels.
Letterman says: “I’ve created, excuse the expression, kind of a love affair with this,” referring to a bank of low-to-the-ground solar panels. “Think about the coal-fired, dangerous, smoke-belching generating plants, and then you look at this and it’s friendly. There’s something very appealing about this, and it’s smooth. Look at it: I can touch it and it’s safe. I put my head right there on it.”
