“Henderson often defended the show from those who said it was nothing but an escapist fantasy meant to help people forget about the social upheaval that the country — and the world — was going through at the time.
“It was really a show that was seen through the eyes of a child,” she once said, “and it was supposed to have a little soft glow about it.”
