Two men were injured and hospitalized after jumping into a wash of the San Gabriel River in El Monte to avoid capture at the end of a vehicle pursuit early Saturday.
The suspects, both in their early-to-mid-20s, fled the Ford F150 pickup truck they had allegedly stolen after crashing it into a tree near the intersection of Ramona Boulevard and Durfee Avenue at 2:40 a.m., El Monte Police Department Corp. David Avalos said.
Both suspects were apprehended near the point where they jumped into the wash, Avalos said.
