Police Wednesday searched a Walmart store in Burbank after the company’s corporate headquarters received a telephoned threat and notified by authorities — who later determined that the threat had actually targeted a store in Louisiana.
Officers sent to 1301 N. Victory Place about 8:35 a.m. cleared the scene about 9:45 a.m., said Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green.
“This morning’s response to Walmart in Burbank, California, was based on mistaken information from Walmart Corporate,” Green said.
“They had received a threat by phone, which they believed was aimed at the Burbank, California, store, but have since learned it was actually targeting a Walmart Store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana located on Burbank Drive,” he said. “It is our understanding that the person responsible for the call has been identified and contacted by authorities.”
