A 62-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of robbing a handful of rings last month from a Kevin Jewelers store in the Brea Mall, police said.
Rick Dean Warren of Brea was being held on $50,000 bail in Orange County Jail, according to jail records.
The jewelry store was robbed about 6:45 p.m., Jan. 27, according to Brea police Lt. Darrin Devereux. The robber asked a clerk to look at diamond solitaire rings and when he was shown one of the valuables he lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waist band, Devereux said.
The robber took the ring and four others from a display case before fleeing, Devereux said.
Warren is suspected of robbing other jewelry stores in Southern California over the past year, including ones in Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties, he said.
The value of the stolen rings was not available, Devereaux said.
