A brush fire that blackened about one half acre of grass in “challenging terrain” has been knocked down by city firefighters, with an assist from several agencies, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire which was burning near 10350 N Sunland Blvd. in Sunland, between the Foothill (210) Freeway and Foothill Boulevard at Wentworth Street. It was first reported at 1:27 p.m., said fire department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
The LAFD sent 50 firefighters and two water-dropping helicopters to the scene, Prange said. L.A. County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest each sent full brush containment crews. The Glendale Fire Department also sent ground resources to the fire, Prange continued.
Their combined efforts protected buildings in the area and extinguished the flames in about 33 minutes Prange said.
City firefighters will remain at the scene to mop up any hot spots and extend the perimeter around the fire zone, Prange said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation, he added.
