A brush fire at the Sepulveda Basin in Lake Balboa grew to four acres Monday morning, pushed through heavy vegetation by 20 mile-per-hour winds, authorities said.
The fire was first reported at 1 1/4 acres about 2 a.m. at 6049 North Woodley Avenue, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
By 2:52 a.m., the fire had grown to four acres and firefighters on the ground were aided by water drops, Stewart said.
At 5:05 a.m., the visible flames were out and Los Angeles County Fire Department camp crews were helping clear lines of vegetation around the perimeter of the burn area, she said.
Firefighters were to remain on the scene until all hot spots were out, Stewart said.
