A small fire in the ExxonMobil Refinery in Torrance Wednesday was extinguished in 15 minutes by the company’s own fire brigades who were backed up by the Torrance Fire Department, authorities said.

The fire was caused by a crack in a three-inch line, according to Capt. Steve Deuel of the Torrance Fire Department.

The fire had no effect outside the refinery and there were no street closures or injuries, Deuel said.

Firefighters were called to the refinery at 3700 W. 190th Street at 5:11 p.m., Deuel said.
