The city of Long Beach announced Wednesday that a new COVID-19 test site has opened in the Queen Mary parking lot.
The city said it teamed up with COVID Clinic, a public-benefit nonprofit corporation, to expand coronavirus testing capacity and help meet community demand.
COVID Clinic will offer 500 tests per day at the new site, which will offer testing services for a fee to Long Beach residents.
Rapid COVID-19 testing ($150) and antibody testing ($125) will be available every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Queen Mary parking lot, at 1126 Queens Highway.
The cost of testing can be submitted for reimbursement through a patient’s health insurance, city officials said.
“Testing continues to be critical to containing the spread of COVID-19,” Mayor Robert Garcia said in a written statement. “We will continue working with our local partners to build out a testing network that makes testing available to anyone who needs a test.”
The city’s public sites, which provide free testing, have a combined capacity of 1,400 tests per day.
Officials noted that the city has worked with public and private partners to greatly expand COVID-19 testing since a local health emergency was declared March 4.
