A 42-year-old felon pleaded not guilty Friday to charges stemming from the discovery of a cache of weapons at his West Covina home.

Michael Urac is charged with five felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. The criminal complaint alleges that Urac was convicted in 1998 of transporting or selling methamphetamine.

Urac was arrested following a probation and compliance search Jan. 13 of his home, where authorities found several guns, including two shotguns, two rifles and an assault rifle, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

He is due back in a West Covina courtroom April 9 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.

If convicted as charged, he could face up to five years and eight months in state prison.
