A 26-year-old man accused of shooting and injuring two people in Perris was arrested and remained jailed in lieu of $1 million bail Saturday.
Luis Martinez of Homeland was arrested Friday after investigators tracked down his address and his vehicle’s license plate number, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities first spotted the suspect vehicle in Moreno Valley but Martinez was not in it, sheriff’s officials said. However, the driver, Delgadillo Valtierra, 35, of Homeland, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant.
Investigators later served a search warrant at Martinez’s home at 29341 Grechen Lane where they arrested him.
“The residence was processed for evidence and items of evidentiary value were located and collected,” Sgt. Dave Tinker said.
Martinez’s arrested comes over a month after the shooting took place on Nov. 1. Two victims were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds after deputies responded to a shooting call at around 12:30 a.m. that day in the parking lot of a business in the 4000 block of North Perris Boulevard, sheriff’s officials said.
“Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, and later survived their injuries,” Tinker said.
Martinez was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
