Gunfire from cars, attempted murder, a wild red-lights-and siren car chase – it all sounded as if it were from a movie, but this was real life on the streets of Pomona.
Three people have been arrested for attempted murder after the shooting and vehicle pursuit in Pomona, authorities said Wednesday.
The shooting happened at about 7:05 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of East Holt Avenue and Gibbs Street, Pomona Police Department Lt. Alex Rilloraza said.
The victim, 35 year-old Joseph Sanabria, was hospitalized with leg and foot gunshot wounds, Rilloraza said.
The suspects’ vehicle was briefly stopped by officers, but then driven off again, during which two handguns were thrown from it, Rilloraza said. Another handgun was recovered inside the vehicle when it stopped shortly after.
Lisa Marie Mendoza-Shelby, 45, of Pomona, William Shelby, 53, of Ontario, and Julio Shelby, 36, a transient, were booked for attempted murder, Rilloraza said.
The relationship of the suspects to each other was not known, authorities said, and no further details were immediately available.
