One person was in custody Sunday after allegedly starting a fire in a commercial warehouse in Riverside, the Riverside Fire Department announced.

The fire was reported at 11 a.m. Sunday in a commercial warehouse at 1781 Third St., according to the fire department.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the roof and all sides of the building. Crews were required to force entry into the building where they found a working fire, and a second alarm assignment was requested.

The fire was controlled by 11:24 a.m. and contained to the building.

Witnesses told firefighters they saw someone start the fire, and the suspect was located and placed in custody after arson investigators arrived on the scene.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
