Two people who may have been injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach ran off, and were picked up by another motorist.

The crash was on the southbound 710 Freeway approaching the San Diego (405) Freeway at 6:31 a.m. The vehicle hit the right side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol, and the impact caused its airbags to blow.

The CHP reported that a witness saw smoke coming from the vehicle.

Paramedics dispatched to the scene at 6:41 a.m. couldn’t find any people, according to a dispatcher with the Long Beach Fire Department.

The CHP reported at 6:47 a.m. that the two people in the disabled vehicle had run off and been picked up by another motorist.
