A three-vehicle crash Tuesday on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley involving a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles left one person injured and prompted the closure of lanes.
The crash happened about 5:10 p.m. on the eastbound 60 at Mission Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, the big rig, a pickup hauling a horse trailer and a Hyundai Genesis impacted in the two lanes closest to the right shoulder. No other details were immediately available.
Witnesses told the CHP that the driver of the Hyundai “crawled” out of his vehicle afterward with unspecified injuries, according to reports from the scene.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location minutes later and shut down the No. 3 and 4 lanes because of the wreckage. Two lanes were open and passable as of 5:30 p.m.
The injured motorist was taken to a Riverside hospital for treatment.
It was unclear whether the pickup with the horse trailer hitched was actually carrying an equine. The trailer went through the guardrail, according to the CHP.
The extent of damage to the semi and the Hyundai were unknown.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
