HBO may have a viral website on its hands, and it’s not promoting a movie. Thanks to John Oliver’s creative imagination, definitelyrealquotes.com may have comedic legs.

Oliver noted how Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson used a Thomas Jefferson misquote in a speech last week.
Users click “Try Again” to view nonsense wrongly attributed to historical figures — and sometimes even Oliver himself.
“Does this smell weird to you? I don’t want to eat it if it smells weird” is pegged to Karl Marx, for example.
And Benjamin Franklin (or any of an assortment of others) is quoted as saying: “Most people with genital herpes don’t know they have it.”
Social media is having its say.
I’m having way too much fun with this quote generator #lastweektonight @iamjohnoliver http://t.co/qDQDG6f3dp
