A total of 12 people were arrested as a result of two DUI checkpoints in Riverside County, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.
Deputies conducted one of the checkpoints in Temecula near the intersection of Temecula Parkway and Temecula Creek Road from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, while the second checkpoint was conducted in Jurupa Valley near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Daly Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
According to the sheriff’s department, four people were arrested during the Temecula checkpoint on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Three people were arrested in Jurupa Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and five additional people were arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.
Funding for both checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
