Police were investigating two unrelated shootings in Long Beach Saturday morning, where two people suffered gunshot wounds.

Officers dispatched at about 1:10 a.m. to the 1200 block of East Fourth Street regarding a report of a shooting, and located a man with a non-life-threatening wound to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

The victim was inside a business when a fight occurred with a group of men, police said. The victim was later in a parking lot when he was approached by one of the suspects, which escalated into a shooting. The suspects fled prior to the arrival of the police. No other injuries were reported.

In the second shooting, officers were dispatched at about 1:40 a.m. to the 2400 block of Baltic Avenue regarding a shooting, and located a 16-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

“Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department personnel,” according to a police statement. “He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.”

No further information was immediately available.
