Officers Tuesday talked down an armed prowler who was sitting on the rooftop of a Long Beach home, and they recovered a handgun at the scene of the crime.

Officers responded about 4:30 a.m. to the 200 block of Linden Avenue on a report of a prowler sitting on the roof of a residence, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

“Through successful de-escalation, officers safely took the suspect into custody,” according to a police statement. “The suspect, who was determined to be a prohibited (gun) possessor, was arrested.”

There was no other immediate information and the investigation was ongoing.
