A man who was killed at a home on the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians Reservation in San Jacinto was identified Saturday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The deadly assault occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 43200 block of Castile Canyon Road, just east of Soboba Road. Sgt. Jarred Bishop said deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and discovered “an adult male suffering from traumatic injuries inside a residence.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Bishop didn’t provide details on the specific weapon used. He said a second man was located “with non-life-threatening injuries.”
The man who was killed was identified on Saturday as Souriyan Souksanti, 43, of Moreno Valley, but the injured man was not identified. The injured man was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment and was expected to recover.
Central Homicide Unit detectives were working to identify the suspect or suspects involved in the fatal attack, a possible motive for which was not disclosed.
