A motorcyclist killed in a wreck involving a pickup truck and car in Menifee was publicly identified in a coroner’s report Tuesday.

A Menifee Police Department spokesperson said the fatality occurred shortly after 4 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 74 and Menifee Road.

Agency spokesperson Chase Coburn said the rider, identified Tuesday morning as 28-year-old Hemet resident Danny Ponce Vargas, impacted the sedan and pickup “in two separate collisions” that happened in rapid succession.

“Impairment is not a factor,” Coburn said.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within minutes and pronounced Ponce Vargas dead at the scene. According to the coroner’s report, he succumbed to his injuries in approximately 30 minutes.

The other two motorists, whose identities were not released, were not injured. Both were questioned by patrol officers, but they were not arrested.

Anyone with information relevant to the crashes was asked to contact the police department’s Traffic Unit at 951-723-1690.
