Los Angeles County Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Lindsey Horvath Tuesday presented scrolls of commendation to several community organizations, honoring their work supporting victims of the recent wildfires.
“We’ve witnessed this unimaginable grief and loss, we’ve also seen the very best in our community,” said Barger, chair of the Board of Supervisors, whose district was severely affected by the Eaton Fire that started on Jan. 7 and scorched over 14,000 acres in Altadena and Pasadena. “Countless organizations, businesses, non-profits and residents have stepped up to help when Altadena needed it the most,” she continued.
Barger’s honorees at Tuesday’s board meeting included:
— Altadena Rotary Club;
— Altadena Weather and Climate/Edgar McGregor;
— AltaMed;
— American Red Cross;
— Kaiser Permanente;
— Pasadena Humane;
— Pasadena City College;
— Rose Bowl Stadium;
— Santa Anita Park.
Horvath presented a scroll to Community Brigade, whose volunteer work supported the Los Angeles County Fire Department in battling the Palisades and Franklin fires in her district.
“Volunteers have been on the frontline alongside first responders, evacuating families and helping firefighters save lives and protect homes,” Horvath said. “The community brigade shows us the power of community coming together in times of crisis.”
