Long Beach firefighters tackled a blaze in an apartment building Saturday and contained the damage to the unit of origin.
The fire was reported about 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard, near Candlewood Street, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk.
Firefighters evacuated the building and made an aggressive attack on the apartment that was unoccupied by people at the time, Fisk said. They rescued a dog from the apartment who was suffering from smoke inhalation and unconscious but the dog was treated and turned over to the city’s Animal Care Services.
No injuries were reported.
