An unlicensed 17-year-old boy apparently lost control of a vehicle and crashed into a tree and two houses in Huntington Beach, authorities said Saturday.
The crash occurred at 10:37 p.m. Friday in the 19100 block of Newland Street, according to a Huntington Beach Police Department statement.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears that the vehicle was traveling south on Newland Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control,” police said. “Impairment is not suspected.”
The driver and his 18-year-old male passenger both complained of pain and were taken by ambulance to a hospital to be checked out, police said.
City building inspectors checked out the houses and limited occupancy of one of the structures until power was restored, police said.
The driver was cited for driving without a license and reckless driving and released to a guardian, police said.
