The closure will allow crews to perform major utility relocation work and install piles and deck panels to support construction of the Broadway/Second Street Regional Connector Station.

The closure will affect motorists and bus riders traveling on Broadway between First and Third streets and along Second Street between Hill and Spring streets, according to the MTA.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained during the closure.

The $1.55 billion Regional Connector project directly connects — underground — a nearly two-mile stretch between Metro’s Blue and Expo Lines and the Gold Line.

The connector will also have stations at First Street and Central Avenue and Second Place and Hope Street.

The project is expected to be completed by 2020.
