Anaheim police Wednesday arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of a non-injury shooting that triggered a lockdown of a nearby elementary school.
The teen, whose name was withheld because he’s a minor, allegedly targeted two people, who were not hurt, Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said. The teen was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, he said.
The gunfire occurred just before 11 a.m. at 225 S. Rio Vista, according to Wyatt. Residents in the neighborhood were ordered to shelter in place and others were warned to stay away during the search, which concluded just before 1 p.m.
Rio Vista Elementary, at 310 N. Rio Vista St., was placed on a precautionary lockdown during the search.
