Former USC and NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is in stable condition at a hospital after being stabbed in downtown Indianapolis, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched about 12:30 a.m. to the 300 block of West Washington Street, in response to a report of a person stabbed, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported.

Officers located two victims — one with injuries consistent with stab wounds and another who was injured during physical altercation, FOX59, a Fox News affiliate in Indianapolis reported.

TMZ reported that Sanchez’ was critically injured during the altercation.

“Detectives believe this was an isolated incident between two men and not a random act of violence,” the IMPD said in the statement, adding that “the case will be presented to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.

Sanchez was scheduled to be part of the broadcast crew for Sunday’s game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium but will no longer work the game, ESPN reported.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support,” according to a statement from Fox Sports.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,” according to the statement.
