A former Lyft driver pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl three years ago in Santa Ana.
Fredi Rojas, 33, of Orange, pleaded guilty to sexual penetration by foreign object and force and rape, both felonies. As part of the plea deal a felony count of kidnapping was dismissed.
Rojas attacked the teen on April 13, 2023, police said.
The victim saw Rojas driving by slowly and flagged him down to help charge her phone, police said. Rojas stopped and offered to help and “forced” her into the car, drove to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her in the vehicle, police said.
Rojas later drove her to another place in the city and dropped her off, police said.
Rojas was driving a rented white Nissan Rogue at the time, police said.
