A 38-year-old Anaheim man with a lengthy criminal record remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of $150,000 bail on suspicion of stealing from the Kohl’s store in Seal Beach.

Police went to the Kohl’s at 12345 Seal Beach Blvd. at 2:39 p.m. Monday, just before the suspect was leaving the store, said Seal Beach Police Sgt. Michael Henderson.

The department received a description of the suspect, later identified as Alex Preciado, and took up positions outside the front door of the store. As he left the Kohl’s, Preciado was confronted by loss prevention personnel, Henderson said.

Preciado, a tow truck driver, allegedly pulled a CO2 pellet gun but dropped the weapon when he was confronted by Seal Beach police. Preciado tried to flee but was caught after a brief foot pursuit, Henderson said.

Preciado was booked on suspicion of numerous crimes, Henderson said. He was scheduled to go to Central Jail Court for his arraignment on Wednesday, according to jail records.

Anyone with additional information on the case was asked to call Detective Chris Hendrix at (562) 799-4100, ext. 1109.
