The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday for the 11th consecutive day, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.791.
The average price has dropped 9.6 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.2 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The 11 consecutive decreases follow a 12-day streak of increases totaling 26.4 cents that boosted the average price to its highest amount since April 10
The average price is 4.6 cents less than one week ago but 12.5 cents more than one month ago and 33.3 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.702 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the 11th consecutive day, decreasing 1.5 cents to $4.724. It has dropped 13 cents over the past 11 days, including six-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 5.7 cents less than one week ago but 10.2 cents more than one month ago and 34.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.734 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The 11-day streak of increases totaling 28.6 cents that boosted the Orange County average price to its highest amount since April 9 ended Nov 10 when it was unchanged.
“Oil Price Information Service reported late last week that California refinery gasoline production has rebounded after a downturn related to refinery maintenance,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday.
“This price drop comes just in time for the nearly six million Southern Californians who are planning to drive to Thanksgiving holiday getaways next weekend.”
A four-day streak of increases to the national average price totaling 2.8 cents, including six-tenths of a cent Thursday, ended with a drop of six-tenths of a cent to $3.094. It is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, 4.6 cents higher than one month ago and 3.1 cents greater than one year ago. ‘
The national average price has dropped $1.922 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
