Los Angeles Fire Department hazardous materials specialists Tuesday were investigating some kind of substance found at a downtown Los Angles police technical facility.

Firefighters were called about 6:25 a.m. to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Erwin Piper Technical Center at 555 E. Ramirez Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two people assessed at the scene refused hospital transport, said fire department spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz, who said the city department of transportation was assisting in the cleanup.

Lantz described the situation as static and referred further questions to the LAPD.
