A 58-year-old woman was killed Monday in a two-vehicle collision near Mecca.
The crash was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Monday on 70th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A red Kubota tractor trailer hauling a flatbed trailer was traveling westbound on 70th Street, west of Garfield Street, when a Ford Ranger pickup hit the rear of the trailer, according to the CHP.
It was not immediately known what triggered the crash.
The Ford driver, identified only as a 58-year-old woman from Mecca, was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP officials said the woman was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
It was unclear if the Kubota driver, identified only as a 21-year-old man from Mecca, sustained any injuries.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor, the department said.
