A 31-year-old Temecula woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another woman, authorities said Saturday.
Deputies responded to the 31000 block of Sunflower Way in Temecula around 6:45 p.m. Friday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators later identified Nicaela Hernandez as the suspect, and she was subsequently arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional. Hernandez was expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin. Sheriff’s officials said no additional suspects were believed to be involved, but the motive for the shooting was not provided.
