A three-vehicle crash involving a truck sent one person to a hospital and shut down all lanes of the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in the East Hollywood area, snarling traffic as Tuesday morning’s commute got under way.
The crash was reported about 5:15 near the Vermont Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Fuel was spilled from the truck, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Video from the location showed the truck under an overpass with fluid spilled across lanes.
Traffic was being diverted onto Vermont as crews responded to the wreck.
Northbound traffic was backed up beyond the Harbor (110) Freeway to Cesar Chavez Avenue.
A SigAlert was in effect.
The person taken to a hospital was a man in his mid-30s who sustained a minor injury, Stewart said.
A 22-year-old man declined transport, she said.
Two lanes were reopened around 8 a.m., according to the CHP.
