A 47-year-old woman suspected in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday.
Teesha Lucas was located on Thursday by deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, who served a search warrant and took her into custody, the sheriff’s office reported.
She was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
”After an extensive investigation, the facts of the case were presented to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, who determined they would be charging Lucas with voluntary manslaughter for her involvement in this incident,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded shortly before 2:50 p.m. on April 19 to a house on the 13600 block of Daimler Street to reports regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.
The responding deputies located a male victim, identified as Xavier Cox, upon arrival, who was suffering from gunshot injuries and immediately began rendering medical aid until the paramedics took over.
Cox was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, prompting a homicide investigation, sheriff’s officials said.
During the initial homicide investigation, the sheriff’s office stated that Lucas was taken to the station to speak with investigators and that she was cooperative and later released.
The investigation remained ongoing on Thursday. Anyone with additional information regarding the shooting was urged to contact the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
