Three women suspected of stealing about $20,000 in merchandise across multiple Southern California counties were behind bars Friday following an investigation that began in Perris.

Janely Masvidal, 45, and Briana Monique Marin, 29, both of Los Angeles, were booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of grand theft, organized retail theft, burglary and conspiracy, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded at 12:37 p.m. Jan. 22 to a report of a large-scale theft of beauty products in the 1600 block of North Perris Boulevard in Perris, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation determined the suspects allegedly stole about $20,000 in merchandise from retail stores in Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Marin and Masvidal were located Wednesday in the 7900 block of Beach Boulevard in Buena Park, where investigators identified a location where the stolen merchandise was being stored, authorities said. Both were taken into custody without incident.

A search warrant was served the following day at the Buena Park location, where deputies recovered thousands of dollars’ worth of suspected stolen clothing, beauty products, marijuana vape products and several pounds of processed marijuana, along with a large amount of U.S. currency, authorities said.

Investigators also identified a third suspect, Clementina Peralta, 56, of Buena Park, who was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of possession of stolen property, the department said.

The investigation was ongoing, and anyone with additional information about the thefts was asked to call 951-210-1000.
