Unseasonably warm weather is expected to return to Riverside County this week, with additional periods of Santa Ana winds, the National Weather Service announced.
Sunday’s highs were a few degrees cooler than Saturday, with downtown Riverside reaching a high of 84, Temecula 83, Hemet 82, the Coachella Valley 84 and Palm Springs 83.
Slight cooling was expected to continue Monday, with temperatures a few degrees cooler throughout the county, including Riverside, Temecula and Hemet in the upper 70s.
“By Tuesday, an upper level high pressure will settle over the West Coast, kicking off another period of warming,” the NWS announced.
By Wednesday, temperatures were expected to go back up to the mid-80s in the downtown Riverside, Temecula, Coachella Valley and Palm Springs areas. Hemet was expected to be slightly cooler with a high of 83 by Wednesday.
“With the upper level ridge in place over the West Coast, a surface high is expected to form over the Great Basin for the middle to end of the week. This will bring another period of Santa Ana winds,” the NWS announced.
By next Friday and Saturday, temperatures were expected to drop a few more degrees throughout the county, but warming conditions were expected by next Sunday, according to the NWS.
