The Los Angeles Department of City Planning Thursday warned of scammers sending out communications using fraudulent emails in its name.

The department stated it was made aware of these fraudulent emails being sent from a fake email account, called planning.lacity.org@usa.com.

Department officials are warning residents and customers not to reply, click or open anything from that fake email.

“City Planning does not send invoices or requests payments using email accounts ending in ‘@usa.com.’ Any such communication is fraudulent and should be marked as spam and deleted,” according to a statement from the Department of City Planning.

Residents and customers are encouraged to contact the department’s IT Helpdesk at planning.helpdesk@lacity.org with questions or concerns regarding the validity of an email claiming to be from them.
