The Long Beach Police Department announced Thursday that three lieutenants have been promoted to the rank of commander.

Lieutenants Danielle Quinones, Justin Krueger and Joshua Brearley were selected for promotion, effective Saturday, according to Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish.

“Each of these leaders demonstrates a commitment to the growth, support and success of our department,” the chief said in a statement. “They have all expressed a passion and desire to help lead our organization into the future as we continue to keep our entire community safe.”

Quinones began her career with the department as an officer in 2006. She was promoted to sergeant in 2020, and lieutenant in 2022.

Krueger joined the department, also as an officer, in 2003. He was promoted to sergeant in 2019 and lieutenant in 2022.

Brearley became an LBPD officer in 2004, rose to the rank of sergeant in 2017 and became a lieutenant in 2023.

Qinones, Krueger and Brearly join Shaleana Benson and Steven Costa as department commanders.

As of Saturday, Benson will command the department’s Detective Division, Costa its West Division, Quinones the East Division, Krueger the South Division and Brearly the department’s Security Services Division.
