Caltrans crews will begin overnight lane closures and parking restrictions Sunday evening for a pavement rehabilitation project along state Route 2 in West Los Angeles and Echo Park involving curb, gutter and sidewalk work.

The $70.2 million project will take place along state Route 2 from Centinela Avenue in Santa Monica to the route 2 terminus in Echo Park in the vicinity of Alvarado Street and Glendale Boulevard.

Construction is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday, unless otherwise noted.

Around the clock parking restrictions will be in effect from March 1 through March 7.

The multimodal project is comprised of three segments.

Once complete, the project is expected to extend the pavement life and enhance safety along multiple segments of Route 2. During segment A, for example, up to one lane of eastbound and westbound Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Westgate Avenue to Barry Avenue from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. March 1-7. There will be no parking in either direction of Santa Monica Boulevard between Westgate and Barry avenues from 9 p.m. March 14 to 11 a.m. March 15.

Due to weather or operational reasons, the schedule is subject to change including the times and dates, the number of closures and other details. Residents and businesses located near construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities.
