With two days left to register for a ticket draw, LA28 Monday announced additional details about its soccer and baseball tournaments for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The soccer tournament is scheduled for July 10-30, 2028. Teams will play at seven venues — with five games including the gold medal matches set for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Games will also be played at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, PayPal Park in San Jose, ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Geodis Park in Nashville, Energizer Park in St. Louis, and the under-construction Etihad Park in Queens, New York, set to open in 2027.

The men’s group stage matches will be played in New York, Columbus, Nashville and St. Louis. The women’s group stage matches will be played in New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San Jose and San Diego.

Quarterfinal games for men will be played in New York, Columbus, St. Louis and San Jose, while women’s matches will be played in Nashville, San Jose, San Diego and the Rose Bowl.

Semifinal matches are scheduled at the Rose Bowl and San Diego. Bronze medal matches are scheduled to be played in San Diego as well.

The soccer tournament will begin four days ahead of the Olympic opening ceremony. Officials said the extended schedule will provide each team with two extra days of rest throughout the tournament compared to previous Olympic Games.

During Olympic play, the stadiums will simply carry the names of the city they are in followed by the stadium because of an International Olympic Committee rule barring the use of commercial names from companies that are not Olympic sponsors.

Olympic soccer games before the gold medal games are traditionally played away from the host city. When the U.S. last played host to the Summer Olympics in 1996, stadiums in Birmingham, Alabama, Miami, Orlando, Florida and Washington, D.C. were used for pre-gold medal games.

Meanwhile, three baseball teams have secured their National Olympic Committee’s spot in the lineup for the baseball tournament, according to LA28.

The 2026 World Baseball Classic, scheduled from March 5-17, served as the initial Olympic qualifying event for baseball. It also marked the first Olympic qualifier for any of the sports featured in the 2028 program.

Alongside Team USA — which was guaranteed a spot as the host country — the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, as the two highest ranking teams, secured their spots.

The official team sport rosters will be finalized closer to 2028 by the respective National Olympic Committees, upon recommendation from their national federations and following each team’s selection process, according to LA28.

Following the results of the World Baseball Classic, the remaining three coveted spots will be earned through two additional international tournaments in 2027 and 2028.

Baseball is making a return to the Olympics after not being on the schedule for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The six-team tournament will be held at Dodger Stadium on July 13-19, 2028.

LA28 shared details for the soccer and baseball tournaments ahead of the final day for individuals to register for its ticket draw, available at tickets.la28.org. Registration for the draw opened in January and will close Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.

Once registered, participants are entered into a random drawing to receive time slots for future ticket purchase windows.

Fans will be notified by email between March 31 and April 7 if they have been assigned a time slot, according to LA28.

A presale for Los Angeles and Oklahoma locals will begin April 2-6 followed by the first drop of ticket sales between April 9-19.

Ticket sales for the Paralympic Games will begin in 2027.
